Yep...you heard right, with the NYS budget having issues it
was decided that everything was fair game. To be totally
honest with you, I am beginning to think that the people we
have running the show in Albany are clueless of how to raise
revenue.
New Rates
on Hunting and Fishing Licenses
How does
this effect the revenues coming into the state and what do I
feel are the consequences to this action? Well...I think
there are going to be a lot less sportsmen buying their
licenses due to the plain old fact of not having the monies
to be able to afford them
My tendencies when it
comes to this site is to try to stick to informational and
humorous stories when it comes to publishing and to try to
stay out of the fray of politics. Well...I guess I am going
to break the rules on this one because I feel it is going to
affect a lot of us out there that truly enjoy the sport.
In our area there are many
that are now unemployed or working minimum wage jobs trying
to get by. I see every year these folks struggle to try and
raise the funds needed to purchase their hunting and fishing
licenses. In trying to run an household....the mortgage, car
payment, gas and fuel price increases make for a sobering
reality of...we just don't have the extra monies available
to purchase the hunting licenses.
In our area there are many
that I call substance hunters in that they mainly hunt with
the hopes of filling the freezer with venison to off-set the
cost of meat throughout the year. These guys have no
interest in bagging only a B&C trophy and are looking for
the first decent sized deer to come along.
